In order to be able to succeed in life, people need knowledge and an understanding of how the world is structured, and the opportunities it presents. He mentions this in his book by saying, "Successful people are those who know what they want." Cebula mentions that he used examples of successful people throughout his time at college. Of course, these examples are relevant to his idea on success because most successful people began their careers through education. He then defines success as the ability to plan one's future and do what is necessary to achieve it. The ability to be knowledgeable in many areas, including economics, finance, law and much more is important for one's future. He also states that becoming successful in different areas allows you to do what you love doing most. He describes children as an integral part of attaining success because they will be the ones to carry on the traditions of their parents throughout life. Cebula gives examples of how children are very happy when they are encouraged by their parents and know that they are successful at whatever they choose to do in life. Children who achieve success in school tend to have a positive outlook on life. He states that when children feel successful, they become confident and happy. He also says that it is important for children to have success in their personal lives, whether it be in sports or a hobby. He uses a study he did with students at the University of Iowa to determine whether a high amount of happiness has an effect on how successful students will be later in life. The study he did concluded that the happiest students were more likely to graduate from college and go on to be highly successful in their jobs.
